If you are currently or formerly incarcerated, or are a family member of someone who is incarcerated, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Submission information is included at the bottom of the page.
Also, if you are an incarcerated writer and would simply like some help editing your fiction or nonfiction work, I would be happy to see if we can work together. We are building a ‘library’ of books written from behind bars. Write me or send me a sample of your work at the following address:
Kimberley Carter, P.O. Box 70092, Henrico, VA 23255
You can also reach me through the contact form below.
Or, follow us on Facebook.
SUBMISSIONS: We are always looking for essays for the Views From The Inside category, although we cannot offer payment for accepted pieces. By submitting your work, you are granting permission for us to post it. We are looking for writing that helps the reader get a picture of life behind bars, everything from getting laundry done, to loneliness, to relations with staff and cell mates. We are not looking for polarizing material, but are more interested in educating and creating an understanding of what life on the inside is like – good, bad and ugly. Credit will be given to the author, along with contact information and a short bio if one is included with the submission. We will edit submissions, as needed. Please note in your submission, if you would like your contact information included if published.
We also consider working with book authors of all genres in all aspects of completing their work. If you would like assistance making your story a reality, feel free to submit a chapter to the above address. We will get back to you as soon as possible if we feel we can assist you. We hope to encourage writers to achieve their goals.
